Dennis Chinaworks

Creative director and chief designer Sally Tuffin (of Poole Pottery and Moorcroft fame) is the leading force behind The Dennis Chinaworks. The pottery is situated in Somerset’s Shepton Mallet in England’s West Country.

The works of Sally Tuffin are highly sought after today and her notoriety has gone from strength to strength with sale prices reflecting this. Interest has built both home and abroad in the art of Sally Tuffin who’s output is still prolific. Having originally trained at Walthamstow Art School, Sally Tuffin (now Sally Dennis) moved on to study at the Royal College of Fashion, becoming - under the label of Foale & Tuffin - a major exponent of the nineteen sixties fashion revolution. The Dennis Chinaworks was formed in 1985 but Sally and Richard Dennis went on to concentrate on the Moorcroft factory’s revitalisation, though serious hand-crafted manufacturing began in 1993 with designs inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. The works is moving from strength to strength with over fifteen employees in 2003.

Design ranges include Egyptian iconography, William Morris inspirations, abstract, geometry, textile and popular themes inspired by natural history.
