Jazz Musicians

John Coltrane

Tenor sax giant and putative jazz messiah. Major league career lasted only about 14 years, from the Miles Davis Quintet in the mid 1950s to his own incendiary with Elvin Jones, Jimmy Garrison and McCoy Tyner in the 1960s.

A player of incredible energy and drive. His masterpiece is ‘A Love Supreme’, but also influential on soprano sax, with tunessuch as ‘My Favourite Things’.
