Wadeheath
The company of Wade, Heath & Co. are known for the production of nursery ware in the Art Deco style exemplified by their ranges of Walt Disney characters that are still collectable today.
Henry Hallam founded the original pottery in 1810 to manufacture ceramic fittings for industry. In the mid 19th century the company relocated to Burslem, Stoke on Trent in the Staffordshire Potteries, and at the beginning of the 20th century was taken over by George Wade. The company split to form Wade, Heath & Co. and A.J. Wade & Co. in the nineteen twenties, the former producing extensive ranges displaying back stamp ‘Wadeheath England by permission Walt Disney’. At around this time the Flaxman range of varied Art Deco inspired products was launched including decorative wares and functional goods.
